Kane Is Able Names Charles "Chick" Burdett 2010 Driver of the Year
SCRANTON - October 14, 2010 - KANE Freight Lines is proud to announce their 2010 Driver of the Year program. Our commitment to safety along with our commitment to provide superior service to our customers is driven by the professionalism of our drivers. Our drivers and carriers run over 130,000 loads for us each year. They run through all types of weather, traffic and road conditions. They are governed by the rules and regulations of the D.O.T. and follow strict safety guidelines. They are able to adapt to constant changes in their daily work routine with little notice. Through all this, they always do whatever they can to be professional, courteous and safe. They are on the roadways every day, and meet and interact with hundreds of our customers associates throughout the year. They do all of this while pulling that big Kane is Able "billboard" (trailer) by thousands of people every day. They truly are, and do represent, in the eyes of the public and in the eyes of our transportation customers, KANE.
As we celebrate our 80th year in business, KANE Freight Lines is proud to take notice of all our drivers and, of course, name our 2010 Driver of the Year.
The Driver of the Year process takes into consideration internal interaction with operations, dispatch, customer service and billing along with many aspects of the transportation industry in general. Areas such as safety, on-time performance, fuel mileage, equipment maintenance, customer interaction, professionalism and D.O.T. compliance weigh heavily in the decision.
The KANE Driver of the Year for 2010 is Mr. Charles "Chick" Burdett. Chick has been with KANE for 23 years, starting his career in 1987. Chick is well known at KANE and is always willing to help in any situation that he can. He has seen many changes through his years with the company and with the industry. Through all of them, he has always been able to find ways to adapt to them, understand them and work with them. Chick is also a member of the "Million Mile" Accident Free club.
Our KANE associates offered high praise for Chick. Dispatch: "Chick is great to work with and he makes our job so much nicer." Shop: "Chick keeps his equipment clean and keeps us informed of any problems—making it so much easier to keep the equipment maintained." Billing/Payroll: "Everyone should be like him, everything is clear, his paperwork is all there and everything we need is in order." Customer Service: "If Chick is on the load, we can relax, because we know it will get there!"
While the decision was very difficult to select only one Driver of the Year, Chick has earned the award. He has always represented the reputation of KANE with the integrity and professionalism that is and will always be a normal part of his character.
As the 2010 Driver of the Year, Chick will be issued a newly purchased SmartWaySM Peterbilt 386 with a 72" sleeper that is loaded with options. This tractor is also helping KANE continue to move forward with our green initiatives, as this tractor utilizes many of the SmartWay recommended sustainability items. Exhaust Gas Recovery System (EGR), Afterburner Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF), Super Single tires, and an Automatic Transmission just to name a few.
KANE congratulates Chick on this well deserved award. We greatly appreciate all his years of service, safe driving, loyalty to the company and for being one of the Best-of-the-Best at KANE!
