Third-party logistics meets prime-time TV
Fans of the hit NBC comedy show, “The Office,” may have spotted a familiar name from the third-party logistics world during the December 2, 2010 show. A foam truck from 3PL provider, KANE IS ABLE, was shown on the desk of an office worker during the show.
The Office is about events at the Scranton, Pennsylvania office of the fictional paper supply company, Dunder Mifflin. KANE was founded in Scranton in 1930 and remains headquartered there. Alex Stark, KANE’s marketing director and a fan of The Office, mailed show producers a supply of KANE-branded items in order to help them create the authentic feel of a regional office in eastern Pennsylvania. Stark heard from the show in the form of a release, this provided the NBC production staff the authority to use the KANE merchandise. Various KANE items have already been featured in a couple of episodes.
The foam KANE truck was on the desk of Kevin Malone of Dunder Mifflin’s accounting department during the episode titled “China.”
